Dr Akamnonu received his bachelor's degree at the University of California Riverside where he majored in Biochemistry with an emphasis in Medical Sciences. He subsequently attended and graduated from Meharry Medical College Nashville, Tennessee where he graduated with High Honors and was inducted into the prestigious AOA Honor Medical Society while in Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Meharry Medical College and completed his Fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He is double board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as well as Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Endocrine Society.
Dr Akamnonu is the author of several medical publications and believes in providing the highest quality of medical care to each patient he sees.
He is married, has 2 kids and a labrador mix. He enjoys trying new foods, reading, and learning about different cultures.
